Epsom salts (body salts)

Funny I thought these were called bath salts until I read about it somewhere, I love how I feel when I scrub down after an evening bath, but please do not use on open wounds

Epsom salt is actually magnesium sulfate - a combo of magnesium, sulfur and oxygen. The name that brought magnesium sulfate international recognition comes from a bitter saline spring found in Epsom, a town in Surrey, England.

This naturally occurring mineral has a vast array of benefits and uses, and therefore may be found in your medicine cupboard, as well as in your garage, among gardening utensils!

But what about Epsom salt beauty benefits and uses? If you're keen on leading a healthy lifestyle and are an avid investor in natural beauty products, you will be delighted to find out that Epsom salts have plenty of uses and benefits in the beauty department.

Here are some Epsom salt tips when it comes to your beauty routine!

Epsom Salt Beauty Uses: Hair Conditioner

If you have fine, limp hair, you should know that Epsom salt may help you achieve bouncy locks when mixed with your usual hair conditioner. So what do you have to do to give your hair a bit of volume, the natural way? Simply mix one part of hair conditioner with one part of Epsom salt and apply the mixture all over your locks (avoid the roots in case you have greasy tresses). Leave it for 20 minutes, then rinse with plenty of water.

Epsom Salt Beauty Uses: Scrub

Thanks to its texture, Epsom salt may help you achieve smooth skin in no time! Use it as a highly effective scrub as such, rubbing it all over your body, or mix it with your shower gel in order to avoid possible skin lesions.

Epsom Salt Beauty Uses: Facial Mask

The exfoliating properties of Epsom salt may be of use when it comes to your face, as well. But when mixing Epsom salt with other healthy ingredients, according to your skin type, you get an incredible facial mask!

If you have normal to oily skin, mix 1/2 teaspoon of Epsom salt with 1 tablespoon of cognac, 1/4 of non-fat milk, 1 egg and the juice of one lemon. Apply the Epsom salt facial on damp skin and leave it for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and enjoy your glowing, healthy skin!

Epsom Salt Beauty Uses: Hair Degreaser

Oily hair is definitely a bothersome problem! If you have to deal with it, you might be happy to discover that Epsom salt is very much able to help you fight it, as it removes excess sebum from your locks.

Here's what you have to do: mix 1/2 of shampoo with 9 tablespoons of Epsom salt. On dry hair, apply 1 tablespoon of the mixture, then rinse with cold water. Pour apple cider through your tresses, wait for 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

You can get Epsom salts in any supermarket, I got mine at ikeja city mall, can't remember the particular shop but am sure you can find them at any beauty shop. Cheers
